I am above the world with a buoyancy feeling.
My body loosely clothed in colorful fabrics
That allow me to fly
So high I can see the curvature of the
Atmosphere in white
and faded blues...
Eye to eye
I walk on a tightrope
That extends beyond my vision of
Where it begins
Can't look back to see where it ends...
That could jeopardize my balance.
My arms extend full airplane to right and left
They dance with the rhythm of my feet
Forward motion
So high
I pause to look below
The surface that nurtures life
The patterns represent the squares
We have carved out as humans
Structured boundaries of yours and mine.

Dear Aaron,
First off...congrats on finding a passion that speaks to you this deeply. Some people spend their whole lives looking for something that makes them feel ALIVE. That is why I became an actress and continue to pursue it even though sometimes I want to pack up and quit.
Here's the deal, spend time in as many school productions and community theatre productions that you can find. Spend time on all aspects...build sets, help run lights if you can. Bottom line...really understand from all sides what makes this magic happen.
Next, ask yourself if there is any other thing you can imagine doing and if you find something...GO DO IT. This is not an easy ride, Aaron. I don't mean to be the one to rain on your parade, but you must prepare yourself for continuous let downs. I have had several contracts signed to star in a show and even then things don't always happen in this business.
If none of this sounds intimidating, buy Backstage West and Variety magazine. Make appointments with photographers that advertise in your price range and get shots. Check out acting coaches that advertise in these magazines, too. Then, start submitting your picture to roles that suit you from the breakdowns in both of these magazines. Bottom line. These magazines are everything in the beginning.
From there, you will begin to learn what it's like to have several job interviews and possibly not hear anything for months. If you your spirit can handle that, you are on your way.
At this time, I have no other advice. Especially with the writer's strike, I am holding on to strings most days.
Remember, It is a career with passion that has no rules. You make them up as you go. You are dropped as quickly as you are loved.
Do it for the art and the love of this gift from God.
I do hope this helps. Feel free to ask questions along your travels...I will answer as often as I can.
Grace,
Jennifer
thanks for the advice
